Stangeria
   eriopus    (Stangeria)  imfingo,
      Cultural: Charm to ward off evil spirits and protect warriors. Anti witchcraft.
      Medicinal: Medicinal for high blood pressure & pain
Schoenoplectus
   corymbosus var. corymbosus    (Sedge)  inchoboza,
      Household: Sleeping mats & handicrafts
Stylochaeton
   natalensis    (Bushveld Arum)  mfanamacetjane,  umfana-kamacejane,
      Medicinal: Roots & leaves for earache & chest complaints
Sandersonia
   aurantiaca    (Christmas Bells)  ihlamvu lasenhla,  umagobongwana,  ushayabhici,
      Cultural: Protection from evil.
      Medicinal: Medicinal as aphrodisiac..
Sansevieria
   hyacinthoides    (Mother-in-law's-tongue)  sikwenga,  sitfokofoso,  sitfokotfoko,  sitfotfokotfo,  umutsi wetindlebe,  umwashanhlola,
      Cultural: Roots to bring back ancestors. Protective charm.
      Household: Rope, twine, fishnets & paper made from the fibre.
      Medicinal: Rhizomes & leaves for earache, toothache & haemorrhoids. Also in pregnancy for safe delivery.
Smilax
   anceps    (Thorny Rope)  inchachabulane,  inchachabutane,
      Medicinal: Medicinal for indigestion & numerous other ailments. Roots are infant purgative.
Scadoxus
   multiflorus    (Fire Ball Lily)  idunjana,  ubukhoswane,
      Cultural: Used as protective and love charm.
      Medicinal: Bulb is poisonous but plant used for coughs,headaches & stomach.

      Medicinal: Bulb is poisonous but plant used for coughs,headaches & stomach.

      Medicinal: Roots and bark used for syphilis & heart flutter.
      Food: Edible stem

   aethiopicus    (Wild Ginger)  indungulu,  sidvungule,  sidvungulu,
      Cultural: Cultivated for protection from lightning, snakes and storms.
      Medicinal: Roots & rhizomes for coughs, colds & asthma. Anti-malarial.
Satyrium
   longicauda    (Blushing Bride Satyrium)  uklamkleshe,  unoklamu,  unokleshe,
      Cultural: Protective & love charm
      Food: Edible tuberous roots
