     Stems make pop-guns for children.
Sterculia rogersii    (Common Star-chestnut)  lilumbo,  lumbu,  sibhansi,  sibhosa,  ulumba,
     Fishing nets, threads, sleeping mats & strong rope from bark fibre
Stipa dregeana var. dregeana    (Needlegrass)
     Related to Stipa tenacissima (esparto grass) used for paper.
Strychnos decussata    (Cape Teak)  umpathawenk,
     Timber suitable for musical instruments.
Strychnos mitis    (Yellow Bitterberry)  munono,  umphatsankhosi,
     Wood difficult to work but used for tool handles & fighting sticks.
