Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Pterocarpus angolensis - (Umvangati, Kiaat) Large deciduous tree with broad crown; young parts closely hairy throughout, upper surface of leaflets becoming hairless when mature. Leaves to 25 cm long; up to c 17 leaflets irregularly arrangcd, stalks c 3 mm long, blades oval, narrowing to point, c 5 cm long X 2 cm wide. Inflorescences rather compact, appearing before leaves. Calyx c 1 cm long, lobes short, triangular. Corolla yellow, hairless, c 2 cm long, standard erect. Fruit becoming nearly circular, one edge of carpel growing so that style is close to stalk, c 7 cm diam, wings hairy, centre closely prickly on both surfaces, two-seeded.
