Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Androstachys johnsonii - (Ubakunku) Evergreen tree up to c 10 m high, with many short jointed lateral shoots bearing single pair of opposite leaves at a time; young stems and under surface of leaves densely white-woolly, upper surface dark, hairless, finely pitted. Leaf-stalk c 5 mm long, woolly, blade round or broadly oval, blunt, c 3 cm long and wide. Flower stalk c 5 mm long. Sexes on different plants. Petals absent. Male flowers with 2—5 sepals; stamens numerous, arranged spirally on central axis; no female rudiments. Female flowers, with 3—4-chambered ovary with two ovules in each chamber. Fruit woody, c 1 cm diam.
